Prince of Persia + E3 + Sigur Ros?!

I'm not sure what's more shocking, the fact that "Saeglopur" by Icelandic atmospheric superstars Sigur Ros is featured in the trailer for the next gen version of "Prince of Persia" or that fanboys/girls are generally really digging the jam. Either way, this trailer looks beautiful and I will most certainly be picking this up when it comes out. As long as the action stays more on the actual action and less on the fairy magic side, I think I'll be quite pleased.

Beat me to it!
I was just watching the footage for "Killzone 2" from E3 and was going to do a post about it later today. The original Killzone was the best FPS's that PS2 had to offer and the sequel has been a LONG time in the making. It's finally coming out in February and I think it might tip the scales towards getting me to buy a PS3 instead of an XBOX. Sorry Mark :(
Honestly, I'll probably end
Honestly, I'll probably end up with all three "next gen" (when does it stop being next and start being current?) systems by years end. It seriously pained me to buy a system from Microsoft, but at the end of the day I've been happy with it. I'll likely get a Wii before a PS3 though because nothing is really pulling me in Sony's direction just yet. Maybe my opinion will change when I see God of War III footage beyond the cheesy teaser trailer they put together.
PS3
Yeah I'm kind of the same way as well. PS3 doesn't really have much going for it now that GTA is on Xbox as well. Seams like the live system is a lot better also for the 360. God of War might change that but don't know right now. I also read that Xbox Live is going to start offering streaming Netflix on their system. Not sure of the details but sounds pretty awesome.
POP looks pretty great, but a world away from the first POP for the Xbox which was my favorite so far.
GTA
Plus Rockstar is putting out exclusive 360 downloadable content for GTA IV in september.

Xbox vs. PS3
Yeah everything I've read has said the 360 version of GTA is the better way to go. I think if the 360 can finally get a blueray add on for it's system it will be a big push for them. Right now the only reason I'm toying with the idea of getting the PS3 is for the Blueray player.
Sony is screwed
Square Enix just announced that Final Fantasy 13 won't be a PS3 exclusive and will appear on the 360 as well. FF13 was one of the few major and majorly touted PS3 exclusives so one has to wonder what the hell Sony did to piss off Square Enix.
I was relcutant to buy from microsoft but haven't regretted it once, especially now that Gears of War 2 is on the way, not to mention Dead Space and Resident Evil 5.

Maybe
I'm what you would call an "anti-fan" of the FF series, so that announcement won't have any real affect on me.
That said, the loss of exclusive deals has certainly been an issue for the PS3. The only reason I've considered an XBOX is that a lot of my friends have them, so we could play online.
That said, I'm a firm believer that the PS3 hardware is so superior to XBOX (not to mention the BD capacity) that eventually it will be taken to a level that XBOX games won't be able to touch. And since I'm a graphics whore, that's enough to make me stick with Sony.
Plus, I'm not a big fan of change so... new button schemes be damned!
Agreed
I totally agree about the PS3 being the superior machine, it's library sucks at this point though and with Sony raping the fans on the pricing I don't see any reason to purchase one. I'm not fan of FF but it's been a PS exclusive since the first first PS so for them to loose it now is a huge deal.

Final Fantasy
While it doesn't affect Eric at all (lol), that is HUGE for the 360 and extremely detrimental to the PS3. They are essentially going to cut their gain from the game in half, because Final Fantasy games, for better or for worse, have always been huge sellers.
While I'm a big graphics guy myself, 360 is years ahead in gameplay, library size, and turnaround time and I think that unless something monumental happens on the PS3 soon, they will flounder at #3 forever. If you think that the casual gamer is that concerned about graphics, you probably haven't seen Wii sales figures.
That being said, has anyone watched the trailer for "Mad World"? It's basically the same concept as "Running Man" with the ultra-stylized gory visuals of "Sin City." If the gameplay is at all as promising as the visuals, I might buy a Wii just for this game.
Wii
I still have not played the Wii but most of it's games have not gotten great ratings. Which is what I feared, that the gimmick would be slammed onto titles where it doesn't really fit. And while I'm sure it's fun, I wouldn't want it to be my only console. I mean, who wants to be flailing their arms around every time they want to play a game? I think that there would be times when I would just want to chill with a controller.
That said, I really don't think the PS3 will flounder at #3. The death of HD-DVD was huge for the PS3 and my instinct is that it hasn't really shown it's impact yet. Come this Christmas, when consumers will be rushing to get their HDTV's in the wake of the digital switchover, some real movements may start to happen in the industry. Should be interesting.
Wii remote
The Wii is compatible with the gamecube remote so a lot of games allow you to switch over to non-flailing gameplay.
At $600 the PS3 is still the cheapest blu-ray player. It still beats the crap out of the 360 in sale in japan, which is part of why the FF13 non-exclusive news is so big. The 360 is adding a lot of Japanese style rpgs to their line-up which could help their sales there considerable and actually threaten the PS3 deathgrip. Unless there's a serious price drop on the PS3 I don't see it being a huge seller next christmas either. The blu-ray hasn't really yet entered the public consciousness and overwhelmed DVDs yet.

The most basic PS3 is down
The most basic PS3 is down to $400 now. I'm not sure what its missing or if it's missing anything at all, but I saw it for $400 at the Best Buy.
It's still going to take quite a while to convince me that buying a PS3 is a good idea, especially because 95% of the movies I watch or would want to watch aren't on Blu Ray and won't ever be.

HDMI
I'm pretty sure it's also missing the HDMI output, which means you can only get hi-def from component cables, which basically cripples the console IMO.
And Mark, eventually the industry will switch entirely over to Blu-Ray, even Indie movies. So I'm not sure that statement will hold true.
It'll be some time before
It'll be some time before the switch to blu-ray happens and won't really happen until affordable blu-ray players become readily available. With downloadable movies being the next step in entertainment it's arguable that blu-ray may never get the chance to overtake the industry in the same way that DVDs did.
