  • Album Review: 10 Years - "Feeding the Wolves"

What a curious little album we have here. Whether that qualifier means “good” or “bad” is solely up to the listener. In 10 Years “Feeding the Wolves,” we see a band that gets caught between directions, but is not without talent.

Obliging the trendy nature of assorted alt-metal, “Feeding the Wolves” capitalizes on the anguished, emotional tropes that dominate the radio waves. Yet, within that somewhat disposable framework there exists a glimpse of creative song writing. The harmonizing that the band uses all too sparingly is a small exhibit of the kind of talent that’s on the table.

  • Trailer: New Red Band Trailer For "Machete"

If you know me then you know I adore red band trailers and all their violent, nude glory. But if you know that about me you also know I hate when red band trailers don't show any blood or nudity, it's kind of like fibbing to God. Luckily for us the new "Machete" trailer delivers on both. At least I think it does, I skimmed it quickly at work hoping not to be fired. 99% sure I saw a nipple.

  • On The Next Podcast: "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2"

This week the gang reassembles like Voltron and dips into the vault to check out the 1986 flick "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2". As you might have guessed by the title this is the sequel to Tobe Hooper 1974 classic slasher film starring everyone's favorite chainsaw wielding mega-man Leatheface. If you didn't guess that then you've got some serious problems. How do you top the original? Dennis Hopper on acid, that's how.

  • Album Review: Avenged Sevenfold - "Nightmare"

As a music reviewer, you begin to develop an intuitive sense of what to expect from an album. Either through past albums, band news reports or the paradigm of whatever metal splinter genre you are encountering, it’s easy to create a mindset for an album before you ever sit down and give it your full attention.

Generally, one of three things happens: Either you expect the album to be great and it is great, you expect it to be poor and it is poor, or in disappointing fashion, you expect greatness and are rewarded with mediocrity.

  • Trailer: "Saw 3D" Teaser Hits

Holy mother of god! "Saw 3D", the most anticipated movie of all time finally has a trailer out and it's going to knock your socks off. Watch it below and we'll pick up after.

  • Trailer: "The Final" Shows Good Old Teen Angst

Too soon? I think I'm going to go with too soon on this one. "The Final" is being described as "Saw" meets a bunch of Columbine inspired High School Massacre movies. I had no idea there was a whole genre out there of those but I'm going to stick with too soon.

That's not to say I'm going to avoid this one. The trailer you can view below for the film does look pretty decent, almost good even. Kids running around stabbing each other and whatnot. Supposedly there's even inappropriate use of cattle prods and stun guns. Sounds like a fun time to me.

  • Album Review: Soilwork - "The Panic Broadcast"

Wow. I can’t say this is what I expected from Soilwork. Forever titans of the melodic death/extreme/speed metal scene, the last twist I could have anticipated was for the band to release something, dare I say, “pop-y.”

  • Album Review: Ozzy Osbourne - "Scream"

I'm faced with another possibly ill-advised Ozzy album. Honestly, I'm not sure "Scream" should exist. In truth though, who am I, who are any of us, to tell the father of heavy metal as we know it that he should stop? So, "Scream."

  • On the Next Podcast: "Predators"

This week the crew and special guest Louis Fowler step out to view the new Adrien Brodylicious flick "Predators". The film focuses around a group of thugs on a distant planet being hunted by everyone's favorite alien woodsmen, and all the zany fun that ensues. Reviews have been surprisingly positive so you're going to want to run out to the theater and listen in to all the exciting banter.

  • Trailer: "Devil" Has a Touch of M. Night Shyamalan

Only a few days after Universal announced they would be dropping M. Night Shyamalan's name from the title, "Devil" has a trailer. The film is the first of three movies to be produced by Shyamalan as part of the "Night Chronicles" series. They were kind enough to leave his name in the trailer but I honestly think the font looks a little smaller than all the other titles. I could be wrong though.

What's New?

If you’re a fan of Hitchcock, pitch black comedy and nasty people doing nasty things to each other, “Common Wealth” will probably be right up your dark alley.
