  • Retro Trailer: The Video Dead

Although I'm slightly embarrassed to admit this on a site filled with hardcore horror fanatics, Robert Scott's insanely cheesy 1987 zombie opus "The Video Dead" scared the living daylights out of me as a child. For whatever reason, this title has failed to find a home on DVD, though, for the time being, I'm quite content with the well-worn VHS copy I picked up for next to absolutely nothing at a local flea market last year. Still, it would be nice to have a copy that isn't accompanied by a hissing mono soundtrack and a handful of visually-distorted sequences. A guy can dream, right?

  • Online Web Series "Compulsions" Gets 4 Streamy Nominations

I use to hate those people who walk around jibber jabbering about how they don't have a TV and don't even watch shows. Yeah you're all high and mighty now but if you knew what you've missed on the past four seasons of "The Bad Girls Club" you'd cry like a baby you dirty hippy. But now with all these dandy online webisodes sprouting up I'm starting to think a TV isn't 100% necessary after all.

  • Video: Lars Von Trier's New Denmark Tourism Ads

The always reliable Onion News Network has the surprising news that Lars von Trier's directorial follow-up to "Antichrist" is a new series of ads encouraging people to visit his native Denmark. Here's a handy traveler's tip: book your trip for the harsh winter months if you want to really enjoy all the soul-crushing despair Denmark offers, not to mention the lovely Christmas markets.

  • On the Next Podcast: "Triangle"

Remember that Christopher Cross song "Sailing"? Man that was a good song, I'm listening to it as I write this post for you. It probably won't pop up in the movie "Triangle" though, which is too bad. Then again when he wrote it I don't think he had a bunch of people trapped on some sort of ghost demon boat in mind. I could be wrong though.

"Triangle" hit theaters over in Australia back in August of 09 and finally found it's way to the states last month. It'll be the topic of next week's podcast so you should hop on over to Netflix and stream the crap out of it.

  • Trailer: New "Survival of the Dead" Red Band Trailer

Think you've seen it all in a zombie film my friends? Well think again! The red band trailer for George A. Romero's next film "Survival of the Dead" is up and running and guess what? It's got a zombie on a horse! Yes the clip is short and you don't get to enjoy the zombie horse riding in all its horse glory but still it's pretty exciting. I almost like the fact that you don't see the horse. Maybe it's a zombie horse? I don't know, the possibilities are really endless. I need to calm down.

  • Album Review: Barren Earth - "Curse of the Red River"

Born from the combined talents of current and former members of Amorphis, Swallow the Sun and Kreator, Barren Earth is a unification of Finnish metal veterans making an album.

The first thing I noticed is the satisfaction the band has taken in the product they've created. That can be a hard thing to detect in a recorded release, but there's something about Barren Earth's "Curse of the Red River" that screams pride. They believe in every note, every tone, every growled word.

  • Trailer: Christina Ricci Is Half Naked And Dead In "After.Life"

Ya know, with some different music the trailer for "After.Life" could come off as a pretty nutty comedy. The film stars Christina Ricci as Anna, a sassy young tart who finds herself inside a funeral home with Eliot Deacon, played by Liam Neeson, after a fatal car crash. Eliot convinces her that she is dead and he's the only person who can see her and apparently that she also must wear a red nighty in the great beyond. Sounds like a sick plot to get some girl he's into to run around his funeral home in next to nothing for his own amusement. But whatever, we'll go the horror rout.

  • Video" "Reading Rainbow" Takes A Look At "American Psycho"

Remember the show "Reading Rainbow" with that guy from "Star Trek" talking about how awesome reading is? Me too! I use to watch it every day as a kid so I could get the scoop on what hot new books the kids were into. Then I wouldn't read them. I must have missed the episode where they talked about Bret Easton Ellis's "American Psycho" though because I would have picked it up a lot sooner. Take a look at the video by the good people over at Funny or Die below and enjoy.

  • Video: It's "Murder Baby"!

Babies are so cute and adorable no matter what they do. When they spill crap people think it's the sweetest thing they've ever seen and when they cut their babysitter into pieces it's like eatin a little slice of sunshine. Or so "Murder Baby" would have you believe. "Murder Baby" is the latest internet craze that's sweeping the nation. It's also Eric's latest attempt to get me fired from my job because of the results I get when I use Google's image search for posts like this. Fear the children people, fear them.

  • Heavy Metal News Updates!

    - First and Foremost, the somewhat somber news late last week that Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy is finishing off recording tracks for the new Avenged Sevenfold album. This of course comes following the news of The Rev's passing a couple months ago. The show must go on, I suppose.
