Fear Itself 8 Review - Skin and Bones

This is a review of "Fear Itself" Episode #8

Horror Headlines 8/1/08

Rogue Pictures is interested in remaking Wes Craven's "The People Under the Stairs", and Craven is fully on board. He won't be directing however, and the film will be produced by Marianne Maddalena. Since I've professed my hatred for this film many times on the site, it goes without saying that I think this is good remake news.

Brad Pitt is in heavy talks to star in Quentin Tarrantino's WWII film "Inglorious Bastards". The film will be done over at Universal Pictures, and will be Co-financed by the Weinstein Brothers.

Speaking of the pudgy moguls, they've hired Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton ("Saw" IV, V, "Feast" 2, 3) to hammer the script for the remake of "Piranha" into shape for shooting. I know that director Alexandre Aja has all the right intentions for this film (Hard R, 3D), but what was so wrong with the script that they need two MORE writers to come in on it? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

New Midnight Meat Train pic. Due to the fact that the suits over at Lions Gate are dumping this into imaginary theaters today, I'm guessing this is about all you'll see of it for a while.

"I Am Legend Prequel"? Um sure, okay. Because when I woke up this morning, the first thing I thought is that I really wanted to see another Will Smith blockbuster. What a coincidence.

In Real People News:

I've never rode a public bus before, and this is exactly why. Did he really need to cut his head off?

This creature washed up on the shores of Montauk, right near a government animal testing facility. Okay I'm not exactly a conspiracy nut but, that seems to me like an awful big coincidence. Oh, make sure to put the donut down before clicking on that link. You can thank me later.

On this day in history:

1966: Former Eagle Scout and United States Marine Charles Whitman carries a sniper rifle onto University of Texas at Austin. There he climbs to the top of UT tower and begins firing indiscriminately at dozens of people, killing 13. Whitman is finally taken out 96 minutes later by three Austin PD officers.

Monster-Mania 11

I know many BGHers are, much like I, in the New York City area. The end of August brings the eleventh installment of Monster-Mania.

Anyone else going? I've been to a handful of MM cons and I find them to be good times. The guest list doesn't do much for me this time out. I have a huge crush on Robert Englund, so that's always a welcome face to see. I love me a good horror con, so the "special guests" are often secondary.

The Rochester Police Logs

There's nothing horrifying about this post but there are parts of Rochester, NH that I would consider horrifying. For instance, the Cumberland Farms over on Knight Street. That place sounds like Thunderdome.
